"Billed as the first time sisters, coaches, and big hitters Biodiesel and Diesel played against each other, this match was literally years in the making.
Coach Biodiesel's Bixby Rollerettes, defending champions of Long Beach Roller Derby in 2010, were sitting pretty in first place with a record of 2-0. On the other side Diesel's Terminal Island Tootsies were mathematically eliminated from the league championships with a record of 0-2, and had only their pride on the line in this last game of their season.
The game started out well as the two teams battled it out for the first 15 minutes. But, Bixby proved too much for the T.I.T.'s and took a twenty-point lead at the 15 minute point and never looked back. The game had some noteworthy performances on both sides with Bixby Jammers Kelly Skater and Boba Femme, both contributing multiple grand slams.
It was also the first bout for Cannon Doll X (formerly of the LA Derby Dolls) with the league. She skated as a sub for the T.I.T.'s and did well both jamming and more notably with some huge hits blocking, lighting up some Bixby girls towards the end of the bout.
The real match up that everyone was waiting for did not come until the last jam when the game was already decided. Diesel lined up on the jam line against her little sister Biodiesel and proceeded win the jam and call it off. Jam won for coach Diesel-but game won for Bio and the Rollerettes. It was a good ending for a night of banked track derby more entertaining than the score would lead you to believe. The MVPete's (named after the late Pete Toulios) for the game are Boba Femme for Bixby and Ida Capitate for Terminal Island."
